I did my best to get the timing and feel. Stevie improvised most of this track — and when you’re truly improvising like he was, you naturally sit a little behind the beat. My version may come across slightly more “on” the beat at times, just by nature of transcribing and replaying it — I worked hard to capture his tone, phrasing, and style as accurately as possible.
For the harmonics at the end of each verse, I studied a live performance where Stevie flicks the pickup selector switch and simultaneously strikes the open strings with his picking hand. I don’t know if he did it that way in the studio, but after watching that footage, it felt like the most authentic way to play it.
Hope you enjoy it.
This video was sponsored by XVive, and we’re featuring their A58 wireless guitar adapter in three new finishes: Sunburst, Rosewood, and Mahogany — all of which appear in this video. I always use XVive wireless adapters in my videos, and I strongly recommend them. There’s no noticeable latency, and it definitely beats being tied to your amp with a cable. You can check out the link to the adapter in the description of this video.
Tone are available as .AT5P Amplitube files
