To me, this is a song that defined an era. One of the coolest riffs to come out of the 80s in my opinion.
The solos aren’t overly technical but they ooze machismo and there are some juicy bends and even juicier pinch harmonics. I was having trouble hitting the pinch harmonics on the high e and b strings so I did something different.
I switched to a phosphor bronze pick and the harmonics just started screaming. A company called Zenfire made the pick and it’s so well made and beveled in a way that it doesn’t destroy your strings (although obviously long term they are harder on the strings but I’ve never broken one because of the pick). I definitely recommend at least trying metal picks because they are definitely different.
The ending is almost impossible to decipher by listening to the record but fortunately Ben Eller has the actual guitarist (Scotti Hill) in a video and he actually plays the part. Definitely check that out!
