Izzy’s super tight rhythm playing, and song writing contributings, during the glory days of Guns N’ Roses are untouchable.
This is a full album run through of Izzy’s rhythm parts, tabbed out as closely as possible from isolated tracks I found here and there. I did my best to play and tab everything note for note as accurately as I possibly could. That said, there’s no way to see every fingering position from live footage or old recordings, so in some spots I had to use my best judgement.
It’s definitely possible I may have missed a thing here or there, so if you catch anything, feel free to point it out in the comments. That’s what this community is for. You might also notice some bends that don’t hit exact pitch. That was intentional. Izzy’s style isn’t about perfectly tuned bends, it’s about feel. He bends where he wants, how he wants, and that’s a huge part of why he sounds so cool.
This is my third video using the Gretsch Streamliner in Midnight Sapphire, and I even used it for a rhythm track on Shoot to Thrill by AC DC. Nothing beats the rhythm sound of this Gretsch, which is exactly why I chose it for this album run through. It’s obviously not Izzy’s exact tone, and you can hear the differences compared to his guitars, but this one really shines here. Super shimmery, hollow body character, tight but wide sounding, and it just works beautifully for this record.
