La Grange

By: ZZ Top

The guitar featured in this video was sent to me from Donner and it is a Jazz Telecaster. I am happy to promote this instrument because it is a killer entry level guitar. Awesome Humbucker sound and it feels great to play. And worth every penny for aspiring guitarists. Links to the guitar and Donner site are in the description! Tone screenshots are now available on my Patreon page for anyone interested as well as a new website. Check out the new page at www.mrtabs.com. Patrons also get backing tracks to all songs on this page as well as 50% off all Tabs which are now on the Music Notes site.

Had a lot of fun recording this tune. Couple of things to note about the tab:

In the intro I’m hearing Gibbons slightly bend the G string 1/4 step at the 5th fret. But sometimes he doesn’t. I left out the bend to make it consistent for everyone to learn but if you feel like slightly bending that note (which is a C), go for it!

In the first solo, I’m not sure if Gibbons goes back and forth between using his pick and middle finger, or ring finger. My middle finger feels natural for me, but ring finger is also cool to try.

Last solo, I hit slightly different pinch harmonics. The frets are all correct. It would takes months of practice to get every single pinch the EXACT one he did, haha. So I felt out the pinches. Most of them I got in there.

And that is all! Enjoy!

Here are some of my screenshots, so that you can see exactly how I achieved my La Grange guitar tones. I matching the solo and rhythm section tones from the ZZ Top recording as closely as possible. Patrons can reach out with any tone questions you may have.

Isolated TRACKS (mp3)

Here are the drums, bass and other background tracks to jam along to La Grange. I've also included all of my isolated guitar tracks in case you really want to hear what's going on. Isolated tracks are normally very difficult to find online, and can be very helpful in cracking a difficult solo tab.
