The Ocean is one of those songs that everyone recognizes, but probably doesn’t think about it as one of the big Zeppelin songs.
The main riff is so cool in this one – the timing switches between 4/4 and 7/8, and the drums really carry this song.
Later in the song, Page layers in some harmonies – which are some relatively simple double-stops.
The outro shifts gears altogether and goes into a retro doo-wop groove.
Houses of the Holy has no filler songs. I hope do some more off that album in the future – No Quarter, Dancing Days, D’yer Maker – what do you want to see covered?
