The Day that Never Comes

By: Metallica

There is a great Kirk solo in this video. My main piece of advice is to avoid getting too caught up in that crazy descending lick on the E string. I consider it a button masher because it functions more like a pick scrape effect than a strict musical phrase. Just like a pick scrape, it sounds sick and really adds to the aggressive vibe of the song.

Do not stress about nailing that part note for note, because I can almost guarantee Kirk himself has never played it the exact same way twice haha.

I had never actually listened to this song before I went to tab it out. Wow, it is a monster tune! There are so many cool riffs thrown together to make a massive, epic Metallica song that reminds me of their older stuff. – Jason

Tone Screenshots

Here are some of my screenshots, so that you can see exactly how I achieved my The Day that Never Comes guitar tones. I matching the solo and rhythm section tones from the Metallica recording as closely as possible. Patrons can reach out with any tone questions you may have.

Isolated TRACKS (mp3)

Here are the drums, bass and other background tracks to jam along to The Day that Never Comes. I've also included all of my isolated guitar tracks in case you really want to hear what's going on. Isolated tracks are normally very difficult to find online, and can be very helpful in cracking a difficult solo tab.
