Super cool song from Rust in Peace with two monster solos.
It’s so hard getting Marty Friedman’s feel. In between hard parts are always these super melodic and nuanced lines. I guess that’s what makes Marty one of the best. Dave follows it up with a super aggressive solo with a few button masher licks that are very hard to replicate 100%. That doesn’t mean they don’t sound great though.
In measure 14, I used a 31/32 time signature. I’ve also seen this section transcribed as 15/16 and other variations. I realize 31/32 sounds like a ridiculous signature to count, but I wanted to stay as faithful as possible to the feel of the recording. I grid tested the passage in my DAW, and the closest time signature I could arrive at without compromising the timing was 31/32. I know that may seem far fetched, but that’s where the math led me.
I also want to clarify that Jason’s primary focus is the guitar performance, while my focus is the tab editing and transcription side of things, so there are a few extra details about the video worth mentioning.
