This video is a full remake of an older Symphony of Destruction tab I originally posted about five years ago. Back then, before the channel reached a larger audience, I would tab the songs the way that felt natural for me to play. As the channel has evolved, I have taken a much more accurate approach.
A good example is the main riff picking. Live footage often shows Dave using alternate picking, but instructional clips show all downstrokes. My advice is to play what feels natural to you. If all downstrokes feel right, go for it. I am using both approaches in the video so you can decide what feels best in your hands.
Another update is on measure 72, where I notated a slide from the 9th to the 7th fret to stay consistent with Guitar 1 when the parts are harmonized. Live footage sometimes shows Marty using pull offs instead.
The guitar solo was my main focus when revisiting this video. In my original version, I included two slides up to the 20th fret on the high E string. When I slow the recording down, I do hear those two notes, but sliding to both of them doesn’t feel natural, and seems a bit awkward to play. My conclusion is that one of those notes may have be an anomaly, possibly a pinch harmonic or some kind of studio editing. For this version, I only slide to the 20th fret once, which I believe is most likely how the part is actually played.
