This one’s been in request for a while. Usually Jason Sheppard handles the tougher ones, but this was a big project including the production of the backing track and everything, so I decided to take it on myself. I hadn’t felt this challenged in a while and Jason was kind enough to hand it over to me, so big thanks to him for that. On the main riff, I’ve seen people down pick it, but the isolated track sounds alternate picked, so I went with that. I’m a bit heavier on the palm mutes than Glenn Tipton, and I tried to base as many positions as possible on live footage, finding a happy medium between what I’m seeing and what I’m hearing in the isolated track. That was tricky because there’s not a lot of great live footage out there, it’s blurry and full of quick camera angle changes, so it was hard to really get a clear picture. There’s also some doubling up of notes on different strings, like in measure 68 hitting the 12th fret high E and 17th fret B. That’s what it sounds like to me in the isolated track, though I’ve seen people double those notes on the same string.
